Join Marilyn Brighteyes and I for this one of a kind embodied conversation about healing trauma. As a living example of reconciliation we have come to know each other through the homicide of my mother as Marilyn’s brother was the perpetrator. We feel that shared humanity is the act of seeing and listening to the other through having difficult conversations and beginning to contemplate an alternate point of view. Our itnention is to hold space for this and generate a paradigm for peace through personal healing and empowerment.
This is a trigger loaded conversation for the subject matter will lead you deep into the history of colonization in Canada and the subsequent impact of genocide, for Marilyn’s parents were residential school survivors and she grew up in a family suffering abuse, addiction and trauma; stories of which she will share candidly. I will be speaking about the brutal rape and murder of my mother and my own journey in healing. Be prepared to be with what is shared through deep breathing and presence. A guided mediation will be shared at the beginning to support you with this.
