Imagine the following: You are standing high on a mountain top, feet planted firmly on the ground, arms stretched up to greet the heavens, and you are totally connected to Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Spirit. Everything in your body lives and breathes in alignment with the land around you. You know you are here on purpose, your life is rich with meaning, and all of your experiences have happened for a reason. You are the co-creator of your life and embodying your medicine.
This is the intention of Trauma as Medicine.
It is the living act of releasing the shackles of powerlessness found in the wake of grief, trauma or suffering and choosing to do the work required to metabolize your pain. Whether this is facing fear, expressing unresolved emotions, or telling your story – each act removes the sensation of subjugation to the past and opens you to the power of the present moment. This is where freedom lies. This is where that mountain comes in.
This retreat utilizes land based teachings, circle, shamanic journey, movement, dyads, meditation, and ceremony, to guide you in trusting you have the resources inherent in your own being to heal. With hands-on practices focused on personal embodiment and self inquiry you will be supported in connecting with your sacred self.
Trauma as Medicine is based on two primary philosophies: First, we have come to this planet to learn and all of our teachings are found in the heart of our experiences. Second, the world around us is an intelligent matrix of consciousness, which we are a part of, and when we cultivate our relationship with this life force we generate healing. These two philosophies require a paradigm shift in how we view ourselves and our world, one that stipulates, the answers we seek are found within.
Benefits of this retreat: Awareness of ability/capacity for personal healing, Connection to body and felt sense, Strengthen intution, Inspiration for stepping into purpose, Sense of freedom from release of the past and deeper understanding of the full picture and a focus on self love.
Practices used: All practices and techniques are taken directly from my book Trauma as Medicine and from years of facilitating trauma focused workshops. They will include, but are not limited to, meditation, shamanic journey, fire ceremony, breathwork, self inquiry, dyads, journal writing and time alone in nature.
Program cost is $495 plus room and board. Register here at the Sentinel
Note this is one of the most beautiful retreat centres I have ever worked in, in fact it is second only to Suasi Island Eco centre on Lake Titcaca in Peru. It is perfect for those who want the comfort of high quality accomodations and food, while addressing the hard stuff. There are private rooms as well as shared available. Plus a hot tub and sauna. There is room for 16ppl.
Bio
I am a healer, teacher and spiritual guide, with a rich education in energy healing and hands on practice. My training is sourced in personal experience – particularly healing the homicide of my mother and learning to forgive her perpetrator – as well as thirty years of studying energy medicine, earth based traditions, psychedelics, and personal growth. It is my belief that we hold everything we need inside of us to generate transformation, sometimes we just need a little help.
Since 2007 I have run a private clinical practice, created and run a healing centre, hosted monthly moon gatherings, developed and implemented shamanic training programs, taught Reiki, spoken at many conferences, led retreats, and brought groups to Peru to work with indigenous healers. Most recently I am the author of my first self published book – Trauma as Medicine.
For those interested in reading my book prior to attending – it is available here.
Testimonials & Reviews:
This book provides not only a story of tremendous healing but gifts the reader a thorough roadmap to navigate our own healing and ultimately contribute to the collective wellbeing of our planet. Sarah provides many pertinent reflections on our collective relationship to the First peoples of this land and the role required of each of us. Teresa Callihoo, MBA, Wetaskiwin AB
Working with Sarah and Trauma as Medicine has been a tremendous gift on my journey of healing my deep and long-standing abandonment wounds. Sarah’s ability to help empower me to heal myself, without reliance on anything or anyone outside of my own inner medicine and truth has been a remarkable gift. Kate Hook , Onoway Alberta
Traumatized is the best word to describe myself when I started working with Sarah. I attended her Trauma as medicine retreat, did private sessions, went to healing circles and many key note speaker events. Every one of these teachings was medicine for my soul and body. I learned to love myself and awakened my Spirit from the resentment of spousal beatings and residential school trauma. Sarah is a gifted Healer and she has opened my life to see my own amazing journey unfold for the better. I talk to everyone about her teachings. Dianna C , Edmonton Alberta
I have gleaned such a profound understanding of the importance of all us being able to share our stories of trauma in order to help heal each other as a collective. To be able to do it in a safe environment where we know there will be no judgment, just the pure desire to help support each other wherever we are in this process. Jae Wright – Vernon BC
