New to Trauma as Medicine?
Imagine the following: You are standing high on a mountain top, feet planted firmly on the ground, arms stretched up to greet the heavens, totally connected to Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Spirit. Everything in your body lives and breathes in alignment with the land around you. You know you are here on purpose, your life is rich with meaning, and all your experiences have happened for a reason. You are the co-creator of your life and embodying your medicine.
This is the intention of Trauma as Medicine.
It is the living act of releasing the shackles of powerlessness found in the wake of grief, trauma or suffering and choosing to do the work required to metabolize your pain. Whether this is facing fear, expressing unresolved emotions, or telling your story – each act removes the sensation of subjugation to the past and opens you to the power of the present moment. This is where freedom lies. This is where that mountain comes in.
The book – back cover synapsis:
On a cold winters morning in December of 1995 Sarah Salter-Kelly’s mother was brutally raped and murdered in a dark parkade by a stranger. After being found guilty of first-degree murder, the perpetrator suicided in prison.
In Trauma as Medicine, Sarah shares her inspirational story as a template to guide the reader in their own journey of transformation. She encourages you to consider the life lessons you came here to learn are found in the center of your greatest challenges, and if you lean in, miracles unfold. For Sarah, these miracles became a path of Forgiveness and Compassion.
Ten years after her mother’s homicide she was compelled to understand the bad guy. Who was he, who were his people, and what had transpired to lead him into the parkade that day? Her desire for shared humanity led her to the First Nations reserve of his ancestors, and in working with a former chief, she received a profound education in the history of colonization in Canada. This is a real-life example of metabolizing trauma on a personal and collective level.
This book includes the following practices and teachings to guide your way:
Years of training in spiritual healing and personal growth, as well as a focus on shamanic traditions, enable Sarah to present a guide to freedom, compassion, and authentic forgiveness.
“Sarah Salter Kelly took the agonizing pain of personal catastrophe and turned it into soul medicine for herself and others. What seared her soul, then opened her soul, and an amazing light came in.” – Marianne Williamson, Best Selling Author & Spiritual Teacher
